Mrs. Dunsieth’s Newsletter
Week of January 4th-7th, 2011
Welcome Back!
Welcome back and Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! I’m excited to start a fresh new year and a new semester!
In Science this week…
We will begin discussing the Science Fair this week. Mrs. Dean and I will be going over how to research, how to form hypotheses, and how to identify variables and controls. This process is broken down into sections so hopefully it will not be too overwhelming. Students will be getting a sheet with assigned due dates this week. We will also begin Chapter 6 this week.
Note: The ONLY thing the students are required to do at home is the actual experiment. Any pictures of the experiment also need to be taken at home. (No materials are allowed at the Science Fair.) The boards will also be done in class; however, boards and any materials to put on them, need to be brought to school on the day assigned. As I have said, not all of this is due now. Please refer to the due date sheet I will be sending home. I will try to get a computer copy and send it via email.
In Bible this week…
Students finished Unit 5 before the break. We will review Unit 5 this week. The test for this unit will be next Monday January 10th, 2011. I did not want to give it this week as they are probably not prepared because of the long break we had.
McWane Center Field Trip—January 28th
I will be sending out field trip forms this week. I am excited about this field trip. As I have mentioned before, students will have an opportunity to go on a mock mission as astronauts. They will also have time to experiment and explore with robotics. This field trip requires some classroom preparation. Students will need to know vocabulary for the mission before the trip. We will do classroom preparation the week before the field trip.
